The Championships crowned 2018 Athesis Metodo Classico Brut Alto Adige D.O.C. in magnums as “Best Italian Sparkling Wine” and Kettmeir as “World Champion Rising Star”.
For the first time in eight years, at the top of the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships - the international competition for sparkling wines judged by Tom Stevenson, Essi Avellan MW and George Markus - ratings of Italian sparklers there was a wine from the Alto Adige D.O.C., an authentic “bubbly from the Dolomites” and the first Metodo Classico to be released onto the market by Kettmeir in 1992.
